Dog runs up to woman in forest and begs her to follow him

Dog information

Ashley Boggs knew something was wrong. She was driving down a winding forest road in Puerto Rico when she saw the car in front of her stop and she kept driving. She soon found out the reason for the traffic stop: a small brown dog was running towards the cars on the busy road, calling for help.

Boggs, who works with Miracles for Satos Rescue, quickly realized why the sweet pup was so desperate: All of her babies were close to her.

“I came out and realized that she was a nursing mother, so I decided to follow her,” Boggs told The Dodo.
It didn’t take long for Boggs to notice two pups on the trail. She trapped her mother and her cubs in her car. So she went to find the rest of the family.

“That’s when I heard the dog crying coming from the wooded area and I went to investigate,” Boggs said.

As she made her way through the lush green forest, she scanned the area and began to spot small faces peeking through the leaves.

“I was surprised that there were so many,” Boggs said. “I was also sad because I knew they wouldn’t have survived if I hadn’t found them. There was no other food or water, and they were in a very isolated area. She is happy and sad at the same time. They were so adorable.

Boggs led the four babies out of the woods and back to the car. Soon the entire family of seven was together again, heading towards the shelter.

Finally safe, the dog, later named Gogi, couldn’t thank his savior enough.

“She was so loving and she kept kissing me and hugging me to say thank you,” Boggs said.

Despite the time they spent in such a terrifying situation, Gogi and his cubs were loving and fun

. They soon became haunt favorites.

“A mother is an angel,” Boggs said. “She is very affectionate and she likes when people come in and she caresses her. The pups are extremely playful. They love playing with the volunteers and pulling their shoelaces.”
Two of the pups have already been adopted by loving families. Soon, Gogi and the rest of his puppies will also find their perfect homes.

Although they have been forced to navigate a dark forest and a busy highway, this family will never have to worry about fending for themselves again.
